I wish I could go! Maybe next year. If anyone goes, feel free to right a report for the list serve. We won't grade it, but it could spark some interesting discussion!

The Aquaponics Association is hosting an aquaponics conference in Tucson, AZ September 20-22.
>From the brochure:
Friday...
We kick off the weekend with tours of local, featured farms, gardens and integrated urban agriculture sites. Sit back and enjoy the ride on chartered buses chauffeuring conference attendees from our venue to farms, systems and gardens on the tour route.
Later that night, meet our event organizers, keynote speakers, workshop presenters and other aquapons gathering at the Friday evening "Meet and Greet" cocktail party.
Saturday...
Enjoy lunch with holistic farming pioneer and advocate Joel Salatin <http://www.polyfacefarms.com/speaking-protocol/joels-bio/> for a special keynote presentation.
After lunch, get ready to dive into our packed presentation line up. Our presenters were a hit at last year's conference, and this year we are bringing in more - 31 speakers presenting on 45 topics. Enjoy great presentations ranging from Commercial, Home and Community Aquaponics, to Aquaponics in Education and even more in depth specifics on Fish and Plants and Sustainable / Off-grid Solutions.
Saturday night promises to be the highlight of the weekend-an evening with Max Meyers from the amazing NorCal Aquaponics<http://norcalaquaponics.com/> where we catch a glimpse through Max's permaculture eyes at a special dinner keynote presentation - "Closed Loop Aquaponics: Combining the sciences of Permaculture & Aquaponics"
Sunday...
In the morning, we tend to a little business at the Annual General Assembly of the Aquaponics Association. Next, join Joel Salatin for a fun and informative morning workshop on Aquaponics, Food Security, and Food Safety. Round out the rest of your day attending more great workshops and presentations. By the time you leave Tucson, you will be on aquaponic overload!

Additionally, CAA President, Tony Vaught, will be speaking at the conference on the topic:
"Interface of Aquaculture and Aquaponics"- Many conventional aquaculture facilities are looking to the growth of aquaponics with interest. The pathway is very similar to aquaculture in that there are three areas that a new venture must go through. The first is the research phase, the second it the transition phase and the third is profitability or success. The manner in which you approach each phase may determine if your project will survive. I will explain each sector and their relationship to each other. In addition I will touch on how conventional aquaculture and aquaponics can merge, using a symbiotic relationship.
