Dear Fellow Food Scientists,
I received this request to sign a petition for the UN World Summit on Food Systems to included food science & technology in their discussion.  I am typically loathe to sign anything that adds my name and email but this is sufficiently important to do so and pass on.  I apologize if I am duplicating this request, but much prefer to err in that direction than miss other food scientists.  Please consider adding your name and passing on.  Everyone on the distribution is a professional I have met and I would not share emails except for important causes.

Dear Kenneth,
On 23rd September - i.e. next week - the World Summit on Food Systems (FSS 2021) will be held in New York on the occasion of the United Nations General Assembly. Officers of GHI including the Board members are concerned about the complete lack of attention to the role that the Food Science and Technology (FST) may play in improving food security in the world.
That is the reason why we are inviting you to sign the statement regretting this oversight and to ask that the contribution of FST to this high-stakes debate be recognized during this summit and in the various decisions that may be taken, if you have not done so already.
