New workshop offering Engaging Diverse Communities:  Creating Foundational Knowledge
Join the Offices of Outreach and Engagement and Service-Learning on March 11 at 11am for a workshop examining impacts of social identity and systemic imbalances of power in engaging diverse communities. This workshop provides a foundational knowledge to participants of key terms and concepts including social identity, bias, privileged identities and targeted identities.  The training will begin with an overview of social identities (e.g. race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, ability, etc.).  Participants will consider their own identities and how they experience these identities as well as the impact identity has on others.

Join the new Engaged Scholarship Faculty Community of Practice
The Office of Outreach and Engagement is forming a Community of Practice for Ohio State faculty interested in the scholarship of engagement.  Any faculty whose scholarship is in any way focused on connecting the "rich resources of the university to our most pressing social, civic, and ethical problems," (from Boyer, 1996, The Scholarship of Engagement), you are invited to participate!  The first meeting will take place on Feb. 26 from 10-11:30am.

Book Discussion: "From Equity Talk to Equity Walk"
Ohio Campus Compact is joining with Indiana, Kentucky, and North Carolina chapters to host a book discussion of the recently released book "From Equity Talk to Equity Walk: Expanding Practitioner Knowledge for Racial Justice in Higher Education" from AAC&U.  The authors provide examples of ways institutions can design and implement effective campus change strategies to establish expansive and equity-minded campus cultures.  Book discussions will take place monthly from March - July 2021, starting March 23, with each discussion focusing on one chapter.

Call for proposals: Engagement Scholarship Consortium (ESC) Conference
ESC is seeking proposals for its 2021 virtual conference taking place Sept. 13-15.  This year's annual meeting will explore the theme of "Creating Connections and Expanding Possibilities" for publicly engaged scholarship, teaching, and policy.  Proposals are due March 15.
