University Outreach and Engagement Awards Announced
Ohio State's University Outreach and Engagement Awards honor faculty, staff, students, and community partners for outstanding achievement in producing engaged scholarship and community impact.  This year 11 awards were given in four categories: Community Engaged Scholar, Community Engaged Program, Community Partner, and Community Engaged Champion.  We were excited to see several service-learning practitioners and programs honored this year, including Elena Foulis, Jessica Krok-Schoen, and Jill Cutter.  Congratulations to all the winners!

Deadline Extended: Outreach & Engagement Grant Opportunities
Our partners in the Office of Outreach & Engagement will be providing grant funds through a competitive process to university faculty and staff to support program, performance, or exhibition impact assessment; public policy review/development; professional development programs; and professional conference or workshop participation.  The deadline to apply has been extended to April 5, 2020.  Depending on the category, grants up to $10,000 are available.  Service-learning and community-engaged practitioners are strongly encouraged to apply!

Ohio State Service-Learning Practitioner in the News
Did you know one of our talented service-learning faculty has been capturing attention across the entire state during Gov. Mike DeWine's COVID-19 briefings?  Marla Berkowitz is a certified deaf interpreter and senior lecturer in ASL at Ohio State.  Her service-learning course, co-taught with Kristin Wickham-Saxon, introduces students to the intersection of ASL, deaf culture, and the deaf community.

Campus Compact Conference Moves to Virtual Gathering
While the in-person conference has been cancelled, Campus Compact will be offering a free, online-only conference taking place May 11-13, 2020.  No registration is required, and sessions will be streamed live on YouTube.

New Report from the National Commission on Military, National, and Public Service
The Commission's new report, Inspired to Serve, is the culmination of over two years of research, public hearings, and conversations with Americans across the country.  The report contains a comprehensive plan to strengthen service and strategies addressing civic education and national service programs, among other initiatives.
