2019 Service-Learning Course Development Grants
There are just a few more weeks to prepare your application for the 2019 Service-Learning Course Development Grants!  The Office of Service-Learning supports the development of new and improvement of existing community-engaged courses through our annual grant program with awards up to $4,000 per course.  Any instructor at any Ohio State campus is welcome to apply. Applications are due Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019.

IUPUI announces annual Research Academy for engaged learning scholarship
The 11th Annual IUPUI Research Academy will convene May 8-10, 2019, in Indianapolis.  The Research Academy aims to strengthen research on engaged learning, service-learning, and community engagement, advance the scholarship of teaching and learning, provide consultation and feedback on research ideas, and build a network of engaged scholars.  Topics covered include designing theory-grounded research questions, exploring measurement approaches, advancing your research within a learning community, and writing research proposals and manuscripts.  The Office of Service-Learning will be offering partial travel support for this opportunity.

Job Announcement: Asst. Prof. in Community-Engaged Research in Community Development
The University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY, is hiring a full-time, tenure track assistant professor in community-engaged research in community development.  Doctoral degree in a social science discipline related to community development is required.  ABDs who expect to defend their dissertation by no later than July 2019 will be considered.  A proven record of community-engaged research, grant writing, and publications is required.  Application review processes will begin on Jan. 21.

Proposals now being accepted for the 2019 Engagement Scholarship Consortium Meeting and Global Service-Learning Summit

-        The Engagement Scholarship Consortium seeks proposals for its 2019 conference, Deepening Our Roots: Advancing Community Engagement in Higher Education.  The conference will be held Oct. 8-9, 2019, in Denver.  Keynote speaker will be Gordon Gee.  Presentation proposals are due Friday, Mar. 15.

-        The 6th Global Service-Learning Summit will take place Nov. 3-5, 2019, at Clemson University with the theme One World: Inclusion and Transformation in Global Service Learning.  Presentation proposals are due Sunday, Feb. 17.
The Office of Service-Learning will be offering partial travel support for presenters at these conferences.
