New Ohio State service-learning grant program
The Office of Service-Learning, with support from the Office of Undergraduate Education and the Office of Outreach and Engagement, is pleased to announce a new Service-Learning Grants program for Autumn 2016!  These grants, up to $4,000 each, will support courses using a new partnership model with the Columbus Metropolitan Library.  This is a very flexible model that can be applied to a wide variety of courses, while at the same time alleviating the pressure on individual instructors to develop new partnerships with service sites. The deadline to apply is Monday, October 31.

Resources and Opportunities
Voter engagement resources available
As an academic institution, the university commits to a non-partisan approach to voter education and registration.  Should you choose to discuss voter registration for the November 8 election with your students, a non-partisan group in the Office of Student Life called OSU Votes is available at the university.   OSU Votes can provide resources on both voter education and registration.  The deadline for Ohio voter registration is October 11.

"Teaching the Election" reading group
UCAT will facilitate a four-week "Teaching the Election" reading group beginning Thursday, Sept. 15, 9:30-11am in the Barbie Tootle Room, Ohio Union.  The program will cover ways to use the election to engage disciplinary skills and knowledge and strategies for keeping potentially heated discussions productive.  Whether you want to teach a full course about the election or just a portion, all are welcome.  Space is limited, and registration is required.
