Request for Data: President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll
The Ohio State University is preparing to apply for the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, a nationally-recognized commendation from the Corporation for National and Community Service.  The Honor Roll process is not only an opportunity for us to spotlight our programs at a national level, but also for our institution to gain a holistic picture of the eminent contributions that Ohio State students make to our communities every year. Please contact the Office of Service-Learning to discuss how you can share outstanding student service programs in the Honor Roll application. The deadline for data and reporting to be considered for the President's Honor Roll application is April 17, 2015.

Webinar Brown Bag: Getting Service-Learning Research and Community-Engaged Scholarship Published
The Office of Service-Learning will be hosting a viewing brown bag for the International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement's (IARSLCE) Advancing Research Webinar,  Getting Service-Learning Research and Community-Engaged Scholarship Published presented by Jeffrey Howard.  We will be screening this webinar at 1pm on April 21 in the Hale Center, Hall of Fame/Room 101.  The webinar aims to build the capacity of faculty, scholar-practitioners, graduate students, and community partners as co-educators to be successful in publishing their work related to service-learning, community-based research, and other manifestations of community-engaged scholarship.  Jeffrey Howard is the director of faculty development at DePaul University's Steans Center for Community-based Service Learning.

IUPUI Service-Learning Institute and Research Academy

The IUPUI Service-Learning Institute and Research Academy are interactive workshops to develop skills for service-learning courses and research.  Participants will learn about enhancing reflection and assessment and developing research projects.  The proceedings challenge participants to develop collaborations with fellow practitioners and researchers that will enhance their work and contribute to a collective understanding of service learning.  The Service-Learning Institute will take place May 11 - 13, and the Research Academy will take place May 13 - 15, both in Indianapolis, IN.  Registration closes April 15.

Young Scholars Junior Summer Institute Instructors Needed

The Young Scholars Program's Junior Summer Institute is hiring Social Science/Community Service Learning Instructors.  The Junior Summer Institute: Explorations in Social Justice has been created to help rising high school juniors to develop an understanding of college level work in English, Reading, Critical Thinking and Writing, through the lens of social justice.  Course instructors will instruct scholars in elements of social justice while promoting awareness of civic engagement, social consciousness, and advocacy.  In addition, instruction will include elements of quantitative research methods, research analysis, and statistical methods.  Social justice topics chosen for the Junior Summer Institute are: human trafficking, hunger, poverty, education, and LGBTQ.  The Junior Summer Institute will take place June 21-27, 2015.
