Course Spotlight

In order to help service-learning scholars make connections and learn about new projects, we will seek to highlight a new service-learning course in every newsletter. Courses will be shared both here and in the "Spotlight" section on the front page of our website. If you are interested in having your course highlighted, please let Harmony know at cox.529 at osu.edu<mailto:cox.529 at osu.edu>.

Inside-Out Celebrates a 5th Successful Year at OSU Newark Inside-Out courses at Ohio State Newark bring college students and incarcerated individuals together in a classroom setting to develop a partnership between institutions of higher learning and prison systems. The program recently held its 5th closing ceremony, where "inside" and "outside" students were able to share their experiences and the lessons taken from their work. View a video of the ceremony here: http://youtu.be/zWyHxFJYdUk For more information about Inside-Out, please contact Angela Bryant at Bryant.74 at osu.edu<mailto:Bryant.74 at osu.edu>.

Resources and Opportunities
Report: Engaging A New Generation of Philanthropists A new study produced by Brandeis University looks at assessment data from students enrolled in Ohio Campus Compact's Pay it Forward student philanthropy courses. The report explores the relationship between college students' prior philanthropic experiences, student philanthropy course components, and student outcomes related to philanthropy, volunteering, and supporting their communities. Creative Ways to Report Service-Learning Success Reporting is a vital way for service-learning practitioners to share their successes, but writing those reports can be an exercise in frustration. Some colleges have been looking for creative ways to make reporting more interesting and easier to understand. You can get inspired by their efforts here: http://www.ohiocampuscompact.org/blog/2014/01/10/report/
Sincerely,

Ola Ahlqvist and Harmony Cox
