[OSU-SLSR] Attend Pay It Forward Week's Poverty Simulation this Thursday, 4/4

Hello, Service-Learning Scholars-

We wanted to take this opportunity to let you and your students know about the opportunity to attend the Pay It Forward Week Poverty Simulation this Thursday, April 4th, from 4:00-6:00pm in the Hale Center. A poverty simulation is a powerful experiential learning opportunity where participants spend a simulated month experiencing the day-to-day pressures of living in poverty. After the simulation, a collective debrief helps participants reflect on their experiences and learn more about how poverty affects communities as a whole. This experience helps students begin to understand the realities of poverty, and what communities can do to address those realities collectively. We strongly encourage anyone who is interested to attend. This experience can help open a dialogue on poverty issues with your class, and could also make a great extra-credit opportunity for service-learning students. Please forward this to your students and any colleagues who may be interested!

Pay It Forward Week 2013: Navigate Your Way through Service!
Beginning April 1st, "navigate your way through service" by participating in Pay It Forward Week! Get involved with United Way and learn about how to become an advocate for a cause that is important to you. Only have a few moments to give? Even the busiest Buckeye can participate in Pay It Forward Week by writing a motivational message to an elementary student donated along with a book. There are plenty of events to get involved in and the more events you attend the more chances to win a lunch with a special Guest! Below is a sneak peak of the week's events.
