Paper on Ohio State's Engineering Service-Learning Program Published The International Journal for Service Learning in Engineering:  Humanitarian Engineering and Social Entrepreneurship is a peer-reviewed electronic journal with a focus on service learning in engineering and related service learning pedagogy. This month's issue contains a paper about Ohio State's Service-Learning Engineering program and their successful collaboration with international partners in Honduras. Request for proposals: 2012 Service-Learning Course Grants The Service-Learning Initiative, with support from Undergraduate Education and Outreach and Engagement, is announcing its 2012 Service-Learning Grants program. Grants are available to any OSU faculty or staff that will be teaching or facilitating a service-learning course in the 2012-13 academic year(s). Funding is available to support course development and enrichment, course assessment, and student philanthropy. Proposals due June 15th, 2012. U-WE Undergraduate Writing Experience for Fall Semester  U-WE: An Undergraduate Writing Experience for Social Change is a service-learning non-credit seminar hosted by The Outreach Program in the OSU Center for the Study and Teaching of Writing. In this outreach seminar, students will learn the skills needed to effectively change the social climate of their world through writing, and discuss pertinent social issues such as urban education, diversity and privilege, poverty, and leadership while engaging with Columbus City Schools students. Southern New Hampshire University seeks Curricular Service Coordinator The Coordinator of Curricular Service is a full-time professional position responsible for managing a variety of initiatives and programs of the Center for Service and Community Involvement. The Center serves as a clearing house for volunteer opportunities for students, faculty and staff and coordinates the university's academic and co-curricular service initiatives. Major responsibilities will include managing day to day activities associated with Service Learning. A Master's Degree in higher education or a related field is required as well as +2 years of significant experience managing and developing curricular or co-curricular service programs. NERCHE releases "Profiles of Public Engagement" report  This report offers an analysis of data from applications submitted in 2009, 2010, and 2011 for NERCHE's Ernest A. Lynton Award for the Scholarship of Engagement for Early Career Faculty.  It examines both institutional and individual data, and draws findings from materials provided by Award nominees and nominators. The report will be issued annually, providing a snapshot of the exemplary engaged scholarly work of early-career faculty, and over time both the implications of the findings and trends will become more apparent. Call for Articles for Upcoming Online Publication  For this web-based publication, Campus Compact - Connect2Complete (C2C) and the Community College National Center for Community Engagement (CCNCCE) seek to encourage academic research and discussion that bridges the fields of developmental education, community-engaged learning, peer advocacy and mentoring. Lessons from the Field: Weaving Community-Engaged Learning and Peer Mentoring into Developmental Education will offer best practices, models, lessons learned, and research from community college and university faculty and staff. Articles are due on July 1st, 2012. You may also find  guidelines and other information on the CCNCCE home page at http://www.mesacc.edu/engagement.
