Look for the S-Designation Starting This Summer Beginning this summer, the new S-designated courses will begin to become available for registration. The S-designation signifies that a course will have dedicated service-learning content. To see what s-designated courses are available for summer, just type an "s" in the course number field on the BuckeyeLink Schedule of Classes. Spanish 5689S: Spanish in Ohio   This course is based around interaction with Hispanic communities in Ohio and intensive & extensive practice with Spanish as spoken by native speakers from the U.S. & abroad. Students will work tutoring and mentoring children in after-school and summer programs.

Otterbein University Seeks Assistant Director for the Center of Community Engagement The Assistant Director is primarily responsible for the coordination and management of community engagement activities and leadership development programs. General Responsibilities include assisting in the management of the general operations of the Center for Community Engagement, including: strategic planning, transportation and risk-management, supervision of student employees, budget oversight, grant-writing/management/reporting, communications, outreach, public relations, tracking, and assessment. NOSC Proposal Deadline Extended The deadline to submit a proposal for presentation at the 2012 National Outreach Scholarship Conference has been extended to April 30.  This year's event is hosted by The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on September 30 - October 3, 2012.  They are seeking submissions for three tracks: The Voice of the Faculty and Staff, the Voice of the Student, and The Voice of the Community Partner. To encourage maximum participation by student presenters at NOSC 2012, the University of Alabama Graduate School will provide a $100 scholarship covering the cost of registration for all students who are presenters in accepted Session, Poster, or Poster Symposium proposals. Alma Powell to deliver Patterson Lecture; RSVP Closes Friday Alma J. Powell, board chair of America's Promise Alliance, is the keynote speaker for the ninth annual James F. Patterson Land-Grant University Lecture, presented by the Office of Outreach and Engagement at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday (5/16) in the Ohio Union's Archie Griffin Ballroom. The university's C. Peter Magrath Community Engagement Award nominee and recipients of the 2012 Engagement Impact Grants and Service Learning Awards also will be featured at the event.
