Shawn,

I opened this issue https://github.com/OSC/ood-fileexplorer/issues/178 to track this feature request.

Besides disabling file download, do you also want to disable file upload?

Thanks,
Eric

Hi,
Let me explain further. I have a small cluster apart from our main HPC cluster that requires its own login and compute nodes. Requirements dictate (or prefer) that I block any ability for users to download files "out of the system" so I'll be blocking outgoing traffic, scp, etc and everyone will be using OOD.

If there is no built-in variable to enable or disable the Download button one could just locate it in the html and remove the button. Users could of course still use the file explorer API and cut and paste the full path to a file, hit enter and the browser will ask to download.

Hi Shawn,

There is no configuration option to disable file downloads from the Files App. You would have to fork the project and make edits to the code directly. Although by completely disabling file downloading from OnDemand you also in-turn lose the ability to view and edit files.

Is there a particular reason you wouldn't want users to be able to access files through OnDemand? There may be alternative solutions if we had a better understanding of the requirements.

Is it possible to disable file downloads from the file explorer? I'm experimenting with this for a somewhat secure mini-cluster where outside ssh, scp is disabled. Users will have to go thru OOD in order to get a shell, launch aps, etc and I would like to disable downloading.

If not possible directly thru the app, as a temporary solution I guess I could just block that portion of the API url in the web server...
