 Hi Laurie and Jonathan,
Here in Ohio, we have credit flexibility that allows a student (of any age) to earn high school credit for a high-school-level course he/she arranges/plans in advance with a certified teacher and the school.  This was designed as an alternative to credit based solely on clock hours, instead focusing on mastery, and it opens up learning beyond each school's course catalog to anything the student is interested in and can learn.  Credit has to be transcripted just like every other course on the transcript--no "asterisk."

Perfect for gifted kids!  I presented on this at NAGC hoping it would take off in other states, but it's woefully underutilized even in Ohio, TBH.

Hi all,

I’m forwarding a VERY interesting question from a colleague in Pennsylvania—I realized I had never seen anything about this, either!  You could respond directly to Jonathan, but if you respond to the list, I’ll forward the messages on, and we’ll all know how you highlight achievements on transcripts!

MANY thanks,

Laurie (Croft / Belin-Blank Center….)

Our district is exploring college-level transcripts for admissions. We are interested in learning how other schools highlight special projects on transcripts, especially for gifted and talented students who may need some "spike" to the transcript with Ivy League schools.

For example, do you only useindependent study with notes to cover all unique cases?

How do you use the transcript to highlight these special students?
