2021 UPSTANDER INSTITUTE: The Power of Testimony
Join us for a once in a lifetime opportunity to explore the Power of Testimony. During the 2021 Upstander Institute, participants will go on personalized exhibition tours, join behind-the-scenes museum activities, attend private survivor presentations, and meet with leading research organizations. Each themed week includes project-based learning in which participants will conduct high level research and present their findings. All programs are offered in-person at the Museum or virtually.

The Department offers a range of academic programs, including a BA in history, our top-ranked MA in public history, an accelerated 5 year BA/MA in history, an MA in history, and a PhD in history. We particularly invite applications for the PhD with a focus on Public History.
Students have the opportunity to work and study with the Humanities Truck, the Antiracist Research & Policy Center, the Carmel Institute for Russian Culture & History, the Center for Israeli Studies, the Jewish Studies Program, the Nuclear Studies Institute, and many other institutions at AU and in the broader Washington DC community. | The First Academy Chapter of the National History Club is pleased to announce the winning documentaries for the second annual Examples of Honor Documentary making contest. Upper School students were challenged to select a key historical figure (domestic, foreign, ancient or modern) and examine how that person displayed honor throughout his or her life by creating a video documentary.
In First Place earning the grand prize of $1,000 is freshman Grace Cowan for her documentary on Eunice Kennedy Shriver! Please take a look at her work by clicking on the link above. |
