The Ohio Department of Education's Coronavirus (COVID-19) web page provides information and resources regarding the ordered school-building closure including an FAQ document that is updated regularly.During the ordered school-building closure period, schools may continue to receive reimbursement for meals served by participating in the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) or the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). Schools may operate as open, restricted open or targeted outreach sites. ‘Clark’s Cozy Corner:’ Liberty teacher goes viral for unique teaching style during shutdown

A local teacher in the Valley has gone viral for her creative teaching skills. This week, first grade Liberty teacher Darnelle Clark has been reading to her students despite the quarantine by posting videos online. It’s called “Clark’s Cozy Corner.” Her unique style has not only kept her students engaged but even some parents... She plans to host a new episode every weekday, Monday through Friday. Charlotte Hughes loves to cook. She also loves school. The 6-year-old attends kindergarten at Centerburg Elementary School in Knox County. Like every other student in the state, she's been home for the last week during the spread of the coronavirus. While doing her at-home school work, Charlotte is taking it a step further... She used the opportunity to learn about math and, specifically, portions. It's a small part of her daily education. Her mother, Ellie, posted the video as an option for other parents.

Urging States to Continue Educating Students with Disabilities, Secretary DeVos Publishes New Resource on Accessibility and Distance Learning Options

U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos announced today the Department has released new information clarifying that federal law should not be used to prevent schools from offering distance learning opportunities to all students, including students with disabilities. This new resource from the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) and the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) explains that as a school district takes necessary steps to address the health, safety, and well-being of all its students and staff, educators can use distance learning opportunities to serve all students. |
