Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center (MVESC) is a regional resource center for schools in Coshocton, Hocking, Morgan, Muskingum, Perry and Tuscarawas counties and beyond. Covering more than 2,400 square miles, MVESC helps nearly 31,000 students learn and about 2,000 teachers teach in the largest service region of all 52 ESCs in Ohio. QUALIFICATIONS:

  1.  Minimum of Bachelor's Degree
  2.  Valid Ohio licensure or endorsement in gifted education
  3.  Three years teaching experience serving students who are gifted
  4.  Successful completion of BCI/FBI background checks
  5.  Possession of a valid Ohio Driver's license or have transportation to off-site job-related functions
  6.  Evidence of experience with professional development presentations
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Under administrative direction, provides support in gifted education and regular education in the interpretation of gifted program standards, identification of students, program/curriculum development, service models for students, coordination of services between gifted education and regular education, facilitation of professional development opportunities, consultation and advocacy of appropriate services for all K-12 students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  (The below list is not ranked in order of importance.)

  1.  Provide ongoing support in curriculum development and instruction to general education teachers who are designated as the provider of gifted services
  2.  Provide professional development for gifted personnel, regular classroom teachers, administrators, and parents
  3.  Assist district personnel in the identification of students who are gifted (process whole grade screeners and administer individual assessments)
  4.  Collaborate in the writing of Written Educational Plans for students receiving service(s) with general education teachers
  5.  Assist districts in the design of service plans, appropriate placement of students receiving gifted services, notification to parents regarding service, and other duties as requested or assigned
  6.  Design and facilitate opportunities for students who are gifted.
  7.  Possess a sincere commitment to educating and understanding the special affective and cognitive needs of the gifted child; advocate effectively for the needs of students who are gifted
  8.  Assume responsibility for professional growth and development, keeping current in literature, research and instructional techniques
  9.  Ensure district compliance of accountability requirements from the Operating Standards
  10. Assist district personnel with acceleration procedures
  11. Use data from a variety of sources to measure and monitor the growth of students who are gifted
  12. Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance
  13. Maintains required license(s)
  14. The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment at the Center
