Clark State Community College offers two youth STEM outreach programs created by Johns Hopkins University’s Whiting School of Engineering.

Engineering Innovation (EI) is an intensive four-week summer course created by Johns Hopkins University-Whiting School of Engineering (JHU) that offers students in grades 9-12 rigorous opportunities to think and problem solve like an engineer. Engineering Innovation involves research, labs, quizzes, writing assignments and a final exam. Students who complete the course and earn an A or B on lab and final exams will be awarded three Johns Hopkins University credits.

Phone & Games is an intensive one-week summer course created by Johns Hopkins University (JHU) where students in grades 6-8 interact with MIT programming software to create and Android device gaming apps. Phone & Games is held the last week of June each year on Clark State’s Leffel Lane Campus. Students will present their Android apps at a symposium at the end of the course.

Thanks to a local philanthropist, applicants accepted into Phone & Games program at Clark State will attend free.
