HIGH-IQ SOCIETY MENSA TO OFFER ADMISSION TEST


(Kettering, OH) – DaytonArea Mensa, the local chapter of the international high IQ society, will hold atesting session at the Wilmington Stroop BranchLibrary, 3980 WilmingtonPike, on Saturday, December 17, 2015, 10:00 AM – 12:00 noon. 

Test-takers should arrive about 15-20 minutes prior to testing to completeregistration. Late arrivals cannot be accommodated once testing has started.The test takes about two hours. Those who score in the top two percent of thepopulation on either of two tests of logic and deductive reasoning are eligiblefor membership. The test is open to anyone age 14 and older. The test Mensaadministers is not normed and validated for persons under 14, who may qualifyby other means. For applicants at least 14 but under 18, a parent orguardian must sign for permission to take the test although the parent orguardian need not be present at the testing session. If appropriate, pleasecontact us for the appropriate form for the parent/guardian to sign. Formswill be available at the testing session or we can send them in advance of thetest date. Each test-taker must have a photo ID. There is no charge totake the test. To cover expenses of the testing program the national Mensaoffice charges $40 to score the test and report the results to the person whotook the test. This may be paid at the time the test is given. 
 
Applicants of any age can use prior evidence from a wide varietyof other standardized IQ tests to qualify. This is the only way a person underfourteen can qualify; see http://www.us.mensa.org/join/testscores/and http://www.us.mensa.org/join/gifted-youth-admission/.  During December 2016, the nationaloffice will evaluate prior test scores free.  The normal one-time charge for this is $40.

Members ofAmerican Mensa range in age from 2 to 102. They include engineers,homemakers, teachers, military personnel, actors, athletes, mechanics,students,  CEOs and many others, and they shareonly one trait — high intelligence. The Daytonchapter includes about 250 members from middle school age through earlynineties and regularly organizes lunch and dinner groups, games nights, pubcrawls, movie nights, and visits to various educational, cultural, and justplain fun events around the area.
