Educational and inspirational, Rad Women Worldwide tells fresh, engaging, and inspiring tales of perseverance and radical success by pairing well researched and riveting biographies with powerful and expressive cut-paper portraits. From 430 BCE to 2016, spanning 31 countries around the world, the book features an array of diverse figures, including Hatshepsut (the great female king who ruled Egypt peacefully for two decades) and Malala Yousafzi (the youngest person to win the Nobel Peace Prize) to Poly Styrene (legendary teenage punk and lead singer of X-Ray Spex) and Liv Arnesen and Ann Bancroft (polar explorers and the first women to cross Antarctica). This progressive and visually arresting book is a compelling addition to women's history and belongs on the shelf of every school, library, and home.

            * A website that reflects your ability to use website design software and computer technology to communicate how your historical figure influenced history.

Temple University's award-winning faculty, rich regional resources, and acclaimed research centers give its History Department a prominent voice in global conversations about the past and the present.

The Temple University History Department has a powerful impact in numerous fields, including international and military history, environmental history, urban history, public history, African American and civil rights history, Atlantic history, and many others. From 2009 through 2015, our full-time faculty have written twenty-nine books and edited six volumes, published forty-seven articles in peer-reviewed journals and contributed fifty-nine chapters to anthologies and major handbooks.

Our 300+ undergraduate majors shine as well, competing successfully every year for university and external prizes and grants, and going on to prestigious graduate programs such as: University of Chicago, Princeton University, University of Washington, Vanderbilt University, and other schools in the United States and around the world.

The History Department at Temple is the proud home of very active research centers that support graduate students, sponsor conferences, and interact continuously with academic and non-academic communities in Philadelphia and around the world. Our Center for Public History trains students for work beyond the university-from museums and archives to the halls of government-and to be particularly mindful of community, collaborative practice, and the fraught politics of shared memory. The Center supports research and socially engaged projects with community partners, winning external grants, national attention, and awards. The MA program with concentration in public history enjoys a remarkable 100% placement rate for graduates who find careers in national and regional cultural organizations.
