Advocacy

Gifted Operating Standards Update

A new draft of the gifted standards was released in late August and public
comment was taken until September 2nd. OAGC has a number of concerns
regarding the new draft. The State Board of Education Achievement Committee
will discuss the latest rule on September 12th, and it is possible that it
will be voted out of committee. This may be one of the last months where
gifted advocates can offer public testimony on the gifted standards. If you
would like to provide testimony to the state board of education on
September 13th, please email [2]anngift at aol.com for more details. For
updates on the standards process, please visit the Advocacy Updates page
at [3]www.oagc.com/advocacyalerts.asp.

Fordham Report on Gifted Accountability

The Fordham Foundation has a released a new report regarding high achievers
and state accounability systems. The report indicates that Ohio is a
national leader with regard to gifted accounability. While Ohio has made
strides in this area, there is still much work to be done. Please go to
