   HIGH-IQ SOCIETY MENSA TO OFFER ADMISSION TEST
    (Dayton, OH) – Dayton Area Mensa, the local chapter of the international high IQ society, will hold a testing session in conjunction with a Mensa Regional Gathering (RG) at The Hotel Dayton (formerly the Ramada), 2301 Wagner Ford Rd., on Saturday, April 2, 2016, starting at 11 a.m. Test-takers should arrive about 15-20 minutes prior to starting time to complete registration. Late arrivals cannot be accommodated once testing has started. The test takes about two hours.
 
 Those who score in the top two percent of the population on either of two tests of logic and deductive reasoning are eligible for membership. The test is open to anyone age 14 and older. The test Mensa administers is not normed and validated for persons under 14, who may qualify by other means. For applicants at least 14 but under 18, a parent or guardian must sign for permission to take the test although the parent or guardian need not be present at the testing session. If appropriate, please contact us for the appropriate form for the parent/guardian to sign. Forms will be available at the testing session or we can send them in advance of the test date. Each test-taker must have a photo ID. There is no charge to take the test. To cover expenses of the testing program the national Mensa office charges $40 to score the test and report the results to the person who took the test. This may be paid at the time the test is given.
 
 For additional information or to preregister for the test, e-mail testing at dayton.us.mensa.org or call 937-878-1467 and leave message and your number for call-back. Preregistration is encouraged and pre-registrants will have priority. Walk-ins will be accepted until testing supplies or available seats run out. Test-takers are invited to join us for the rest of the day’s RG activities including informal buffet lunch and dinner, provided.
 
 Applicants of any age can use prior evidence from a wide variety of other standardized IQ tests to qualify. This is the only way a person under 14 can qualify; see these sites:

 A non-language, culture-fair battery of tests is available for those whose primary language is not English, those who are dyslexic, or those who have a physical condition which would prevent them from taking the regular Mensa Admissions Tests. The non-language tests are given only by appointment.  If this would apply to you, please let us know so we can set up an appointment.
 
 If one qualifies for membership and becomes a member of Dayton Area Mensa within 90 days from offer of membership the Dayton Area Mensa treasury will reimburse the new member for the cost of the national office’s evaluation of his/her admission test results, whether the member took the test with a Mensa proctor or provided documentation of a previous qualifying test score.
 
 Members of American Mensa range in age from 2 to 102. They include engineers, homemakers, teachers, military personnel, actors, athletes, mechanics, students, CEOs and many others, and they share only one trait — high intelligence. The Dayton chapter includes about 250 members from elementary school age through early 90s and regularly organizes lunch and dinner groups, games nights, pub crawls, movie nights, and visits to various educational, cultural, and just plain fun events around the area.
