All parents and educators are welcome to join this seminar at St. John the Baptist School, 5375 Dry RidgeRd, Cincinnati, on Tuesday, October 27, 7-8:30p.m.:
Understanding Testing

What on earth are PNP and GE and all of the otherabbreviations on a student’s standardized test score report?  What possible reason would there be for a 7thgrader take the SAT?  Understanding yourchild’s scores from the CogAT, DIBELS, Star, Iowas, MAP, HSPT, and otherstandardized tests can be like reading tea leaves.  In this session, parents and educators willmake sense of the alphabet soup and all the numbers from ability, achievement,and IQ tests.  Discover how test resultscan provide insights into a child’s learning profile so you can understand thechild’s strengths, recognizing areas of gifted identification and potential forgrowth.  Consider test ceilings andworkarounds for them.  Become fluent inthe testing language!
Anne Flick is a Gifted InstructionalSpecialist who has presented at state and national conferences and providedworkshops for teachers in multiple districts.  In addition to presenting on testing and its relationship to gifted education,Anne will facilitate a discussion among attendees where they can ask questionsand share successes.  
Parents are encouraged to bring their child's test score report to review privately as information is presented.  Certificates ofattendance can be provided for educators to submit to their LPDC.
