Fall Conference

School has started and things are busy, but don't forget to take some time
to register for the OAGC Fall conference and make your hotel reservations.
Remember the deadline for discounted hotel rooms is September 18th, 2015.
These rooms always fill up quickly. We have a great line-up planned for
this year's conference. A draft list of speakers and a draft schedule is

Advocacy

Gifted Operating Standards

Things are quiet for the moment as members of the General Assembly are on
summer break. However, the state board of education is expected to take up
discussion of the gifted operating standards again as early as September
14th.  Please to to  [2]www.oagc.com/advocacyAlerts.asp for more details
about what we can expect in the upcoming months. Gifted advocates will need
to be on full alert as state board members deliberate once again the merits
of inputs and outputs as they relate to gifted children. Several members
have already requested that gifted advocates come in to address the board
so that they can get a personal understanding of the issues at the local
and family level. If you would like to testify, please contact me at

Double Testing Waiver

The USDOE has approved Ohio's extension to avoid double testing of students
in middle school who are taking high school courses. This is good news for
gifted students.
