[Ohiogift] Author James J. Gallagher

      Friends:
 
 James J. Gallagher, a noted author and authority on child development and giftedness, recently passed away. Many on our list know of him through two influential texts: Educating Exceptional Children (the 14th edition is scheduled for publication this year) and Teaching the Gifted Child. One of his hallmark quests was to secure and ensure funding for the appropriate schooling of gifted children. He is credited with coining the now-familiar term "twice exceptional."
 
 No doubt some on this list knew Dr. Gallagher personally or used his various texts. To read more on this man who will be missed significantly in the gifted community, see his obituary in The New York Times:
