[Ohiogift] SLO's for Gifted - What are you using

Mark,

OAGC has a team working on SLOs for gifted specialists. (The team actually created the one on ODE's site). I know a second is going to be posted very soon with others to follow. Also, check out the last OAGC Review for an article on SLO's, and I will be presenting on that at the fall conference.

In terms of length of your SLO, it is my understanding that an SLO should last the duration of your course as it falls within the SLO timeframe (so starting at the beginning but ending in April, or so, for a year long class). If it is the same group of students all year in the class, then you would not have four separate SLOs. Also, it is my understanding that the content of the SLO should not be the same as what is measured by another teacher's SLO or value-added for those same students. So, since those students' grade level language arts standards are part of their home teacher's value added, you won't include them as part of your SLO.

My advice would be to have two SLOs - maybe one for literacy across the curriculum (a model should be posted soon, I hope) and one for problem solving, since those areas can apply across all of your units/quarterly focal points over the course of the year. But, I am interested to read what others suggest on this.
