[Ohiogift] Memorial Service for Karen Cook -- January 5th

I am sorry to share the sad news that long-time gifted intervention specialist, Karen Cook, passed away just before Christmas. Below is her obituary with information about the memorial service that will be held on January 5th. Karen was on the OAGC board as the Chair of the Teacher Division for several years. She was always a positive force for OAGC and gifted children. I will personally miss Karen's presence in the gifted community very much.

COOK Karen S. Cook, age 66, born February 10, 1946 in Columbus, passed away December 21, 2012. Member of Livingston United Methodist Church since the age of 2. Graduated from South High School in 1964. She received her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Education from The Ohio State University. Karen was an educator for 32 years, 28 of those years with Southwest City Schools teaching 5th and 6th grade gifted and talented students at Hayes Intermediate. Preceded in death by mother Pearl Keeler, father Harold Lambert, and Phyllis and Bill McCurdy, who raised her. Survived by son, Anthony "Tony" (Rhonda) Cook; granddaughters, Gabrielle and Alesia Cook; great-grandson, Devonne Cook-Smith; sisters, Phyllis and Linda; close family and friends, Wally and Jane Fahrion, Patti and Bob Bricker, Carol and Guy Wolfenbarger, and Jackie Trainer. A celebration of Karen's life will be held at Livingston United Methodist Church, 200 E. Livingston Ave., on Saturday, January 5, 2013 with a service at 1 p.m. followed by visitation until 4 p.m., Rev. James Donnan officiating.
