As I’m sure you’re all aware:  BatWeek is coming October 24-31.

In preparation for that, let’s do some acoustic monitoring for bats October 20-27 (feel free to start earlier or run later).

If you have a bat detector and way to identify which species you detected, how about doing something fun and productive with it to support bat conservation?

Simply deploy the detector overnight somewhere: your backyard, your favorite park, your field site, at your office…..

Identify the species you detect. Even if you think you’ll get no detections, try it anyway: you might be surprised and knowing where bats aren’t active is also important and interesting.

Record bats on as many nights and sites as you want and try to submit results after each night.
