Bat Technician Needed – Late November, 2017 through March 2018, New Ellenton, SC

We are seeking one seasonal technician to assist a graduate student in conducting a study on winter roost site selection and torpor patterns of tri-colored bats at the Savannah River Site near Aiken, SC. Duties include assisting with capturing bats from bridges, tracking radio-tagged bats to roost sites on a daily basis, collecting habitat data, maintaining data logging equipment, data entry, and performing WNS decontamination procedures. This is a 40-hr/week position but the timing of those hours may be irregular.

Qualifications: The applicant should have an undergraduate degree in Wildlife Biology, Conservation Biology, Biology, Zoology, or other natural resources degree. The applicant must be able to work in all types of weather and be able to walk long distances, sometimes through swampy areas. Previous bat handling and radio-tracking experience is preferred. The applicant must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and must be a U.S. citizen.

Salary: $12/hr plus housing
