See below for reminder about the 2nd International Acoustic Symposium— last one was 15 years ago, which is several lifetimes in the bat acoustic world.

While the note below seems urgent, indeed the venue has a limited seating capacity…

See you there!

Don't miss out! Space is Filling Fast!
If you attend just one meeting this year, it should be this one. It promises to be the most influential assembly of researchers sharing the latest data on bat echolocation science, bat detector use for recording, and software advances for interpreting acoustic surveys.

2nd International Symposium on Bat Echolocation Research: Tools, Techniques, & Analysis at the Westward Look Wyndham Resort, Tucson AZ.
Tucson, AZ • March 26-April 1, 2017
This must-attend event is a follow-up to the Bat Echolocation Research Symposium held in Austin, TX in April 2002 and will highlight important advances in the tools, techniques, and analysis for bat echolocation research and monitoring. The Symposium will feature keynote speakers, plenary sessions, poster presentations, break-out working group sessions, and opportunities to learn more about the new equipment and software to record echolocation calls of bats in the field.·
Anyone tasked with using bat detectors to study, inventory, or monitor bats will rocket up the learning curve for understanding advances in this complex and rapidly evolving technology. This Symposium is also ideal for agency personnel, land-managers, and policy-makers who design and evaluate habitat conservation plans based on acoustic bat surveys, and for anyone designing citizen-science projects using bat detectors. Don't miss out on this opportunity to advance your knowledge on this important subject.
Researchers from North America and around the world will share their findings about significant advances in the study of echolocation and acoustic monitoring studies during a schedule of 5-full days of presentations, break-out sessions, and related evening programs right on the Symposium property. Over 20-species of bats can be found in Tucson, many of which will be migrating back to the area at this time, including nectar-feeding bats that visit hummingbird feeders. Conference registrants may participate by sharing their research during oral presentations or poster sessions, join in working group activities to contribute to comprehensive echolocation survey guidelines handbook, and receive hands-on experience with bat detectors, analysis software, and monitoring techniques during evening practicums.
To see what you will be learning, download the draft meeting agenda<http://batsurveysolutions.com/Events/Resources/DraftAgendaEcholocationAgenda121416.pdf>.
