The Summer 2014 trip to Nicaragua is now open to join!

Rob Mies, Executive Director of the Organization for Bat Conservation, and Fiona Reid, author of A Field Guide to Mammals of Central America and nature tour leader of almost 30 years, will give bat enthusiasts a chance to get to know the region and be involved in hands-on study. The trip is based at the Montibelli Private Reserve, an oasis for a great variety of birds, reptiles and amphibians, and mammals, especially bats. A total of 27 species of bats have been identified here, along with 10 mammals of conservation importance. Our last two nights, we head south to see a different part of the country and visit a turtle nesting beach and several other private reserves where we expect to catch several new species. We can also enjoy some relaxation time on a very secluded beach before we head home.
