I assume you've built MVAPICH2 with the necessary debug options (--enable-g=dbg --enable-fast=none).

If so, the following section of the user guide has incantations required to use Totalview

Please let us know if you face any issues or required assistance.

On a slightly different note, we recently released MVAPICH2 2.3.4 GA. If possible, we would highly recommend that you use this for the best performance and bug fixes.

Using a supercomputer center installed mvapich2/2.3.3 and an executable built with -O0 -g and gnu/9.1.0, i am unable to use Displaying Message Queue State in totalview/2020.1.13.  A popup indicating "No message queue display is available" always occurs.
I do not see totalview mentioned in your user guide.
Is a special incantation needed ?

I am debugging a likely deadlock condition.
