Hi Helen,

MVAPICH2 can be configured to use pmi1 or pmi2 with SLURM without any
patches. See http://mvapich.cse.ohio-state.edu/static/media/mvapich/
mvapich2-2.2-userguide.html#x1-100004.3.2 for details.

With PMIX, we added some extensions to the PMI interface which is not
present in the default SLURM. You can apply the patch mentioned in
http://mvapich.cse.ohio-state.edu/static/media/mvapich/mvapich2-2.2-userguide.html#x1-110004.3.3
to use these features and get improved startup performance.
