Based on your response I'm led to believe that jobs run on nb1 only
and nb2 only are working.

Do you have iptables running?  Perhaps you can give us the output of
something like `sudo /sbin/service iptables status' on both nb1 and
nb2.  Ping is using a different port than that used by mpiexec.
