French-Chinese artist couple disappeared (2)
It's good the woman is well, but what about the husband, Hu Jiamin? The reports say he was hauled off separately, and is still incomunicado, according to several news media, such as:

I worry because, if the Chinese authorities do what they usually do nowadays, then they could well be torturing him, to force him to "confess" to say various untrue things; while at the same time letting her go, as a Frenchwoman. Hu Jiamin said as he was hauled off that he is a French citizen (http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-42454865; citing the detailed report by eyewitness Mingpao journalist: https://news.mingpao.com/pns/dailynews/web_tc/article/20171216/s00002/1513361558310, on how the plainclothes police then hauled them off separately, because "this is China").
The Chinese authorities have repeatedly demonstrated they have no respect for citizenship, they instead embrace the fundamentally racist idea that if you have Chinese "blood," in their judgement, then they claim to own you, regardless of your legal status: https://www.economist.com/news/briefing/21710264-worlds-rising-superpower-has-particular-vision-ethnicity-and-nationhood-has
One example of this was when they recently disappeared two different Swedish citizens, Peter Dahlin and Gui Minhai: the European/"white" one was detained for a few weeks, then expelled; the "Chinese" one (a Swedish citizen only, not dual) was first kidnapped (from) Thailand, then detained illegally in China and forced to make two fake confessions; and held for two years, and counting.
