Job Description
£28,585 - £30,856 pro rata per annum inclusive of London Allowance
Part time (14 hours per week – 0.4 FTE)
Fixed term contract (11 Months)
The role and its responsibilities: The postholder will play a critical role in providing administrative support for the various Centre of Taiwan Studies (CTS) Research and events Programmes, sponsored by Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Education.
Skills and experience
The postholder will have extensive experience of administering academic event programmes. An important role will be leading the public relations of the Centre, thus experience in website content management and social media promotion will be required.
You will need to have experience of communication with a diverse set of stakeholders including students, academics, funders, the media and the general public. This means that the postholder must be fluent in English but also in both written (traditional characters) and spoken Mandarin. Lastly, it is essential that the postholder is enthusiastic about Taiwan Studies.

About the Centre of Taiwan Studies
Since the establishment of the Taiwan Studies Programme in 1999, the School of Oriental and African Studies has become one of the leading centres for Taiwan Studies in the world. We now offer the only MA in Taiwan Studies outside of Taiwan. It provides an unrivalled programme of advanced interdisciplinary courses on Taiwan's society, culture, politics, language and economics. We also run short courses on Taiwan at the Summer School and at other European universities. The School has also become one of the most important centres for Taiwan Studies academic events in the world. During term time we hold regular public seminars, in which scholars working on Taiwan present their research.
