Position: Associate/Full Professor – Tenured Chair in the Department of Modern Languages, University of Northern Colorado
Job Summary:
The Department of Modern Languages at the University of Northern Colorado is seeking to fill the tenured appointment of Department Chair at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor. Primary responsibilities include administration and leadership of the department, research and scholarly activity, classroom teaching, and service to the university, community and profession.
The Modern Languages Department encourages members from all underrepresented groups in higher education to apply. Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must demonstrate an active and prestigious research record as well as administrative experience. Languages of expertise include the following: French, German, Chinese, or Japanese. Other less-commonly taught languages will be considered. The qualifications for this appointment, a nine‐month position with a summer stipend that begins on July 1, 2017, include: (a) a Ph.D. in one of the languages mentioned above or related fields; (b) a record of scholarly publications; (c) demonstrated excellence in teaching and service; and (d) evidence of effective leadership and man agement skills commensurate with the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in curriculum design and innovation. Experience working with teacher education programs.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits available include health, life, and dental insurance, as well as a selection of several defined contribution retirement programs. Dependents and spouses of UNC employees who are employed as 0.5 FTE or above are entitled to and eligible for Dependent Tuition Grants. These tuition grants will cover in‐state tuition charges. Further requirements may exist. Other benefits may be available based on position. Opportunities for summer instruction may be available.

Additional Requirements:
Satisfactory completion of a background check, educational check, and authorization to work in the United States is required after a conditional offer of employment has been made. The successful candidate must submit original transcripts within one (1) month of hire.

The University of Northern Colorado is a Doctoral/Research University enrolling 12,000+ graduate and undergraduate students. The university, founded in 1889, is located in Greeley, Colorado, which has a growing population of 80,000 and is situated an hour north of Denver and 30 miles east of the Rocky Mountains.
