Socialist cultural remnants panel for AAS 2017
Dear all,
I am working on a project on the wengongtuan (文工团) culture that inhabited the heavy industrial factories in China’s Northeast in the post-Mao era. The first part of this project is a paper, “Industrial Ruins as the Backstage: Play-Making in Cultural Workers Ensembles (wengongtuan) in 1990s Shenyang.”  I am wondering if any colleges and friends are interested in putting together an interdisciplinary panel for AAS 2017 (Toronto, March 16-19, 2017) about socialist cultural remnants in post-socialist China. Or, if you are currently working on a panel in which you think my paper might fit, please feel free to contact me (mh11 at williams.edu). Thanks in advance.
