Forced confessions in China
MCLC members:
A video of my recent talk on the forced confessions in China has been uploaded online: https://vimeo.com/194054432
The reference (I am also working on an article so criticisms and suggestions welcome):

ps. Gui Minhai's case, as a Swedish and European Union citizen abducted from Thailand, detained in China and unlawfully forced to self-incriminate himself on TV there, was recently debated in the European Parliament by members from different member countries, you can download the recorded debates, with translations, here: http://www.europarl.europa.eu/ep-live/en/plenary/video?debate=1479978972668

ps. Swedish public TV recently aired, and have uploaded online, two excellent films exploring the case.
They are mainly in Swedish, but with extensive materials interspersed in Chinese and English:
1, "Håll käften - eller dö" [Shut up, or die]: A multipart film investigating freedom of expression around the world (China, Turkey, USA, and elsewhere). Season 1, part 2, December 2016, is mainly devoted to Gui Minhai. The journalist Lena Sundström visits Gui's empty Thailand apartment from which he was abducted October 2015, interviews other publishers and writers in Hong Kong, as well as Gui's daughter Angela Gui.

2, "Tystnadens kultur" [The culture of silence], an installment in the "Uppdrag Granskning" [Mission: Investigation] series, on China's harassment and pressure on Norway and Sweden to force our countries to toe the party line, not to give Nobel prizes to the wrong candidates, and so on; and on self-censorship especially among our elected politicians and government bureaucrats. Discusses the case of Gui Minhai from ca. 54:00, but the entire program is excellent and worth seeing--especially if you can understand Swedish. Released 7 December 2016:

(the script is also online, http://www.svt.se/ug/ug-referens/tystnadens-kultur)
Lastly, I keep a chronological list of reports and analyses of the case of Gui Minhai (and other people abducted and forced to make extra-legal self-incriminating confessions in the last few years), that I can provide to anyone interested (now stands at 100 pages). Or see freeguiminhai.org
