Traditional Chinese Literature, Thought, and Culture
Colgate University. The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures invites applications for a tenure-stream position in Chinese at the level of assistant professor, beginning fall semester 2016.  A Ph.D. in hand or near completion and native or near native command of both Chinese and English are required; teaching experience in the United States is preferred. The area of specialization is traditional Chinese literature, thought, and culture, with an emphasis on comparative approaches in teaching and research. The successful candidate will be expected to teach language at all levels, departmental courses in his or her specialization, interdisciplinary courses in the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum, independent studies as needed, and to direct in rotation a semester-long study abroad program to the People’s Republic of China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. The teaching load is five courses per year. Faculty responsibilities include productive scholarly research, student advising, and service to the University and the profession.
