Journal of Chinese Humanities–call for translators (2)
This is to clarify that Canaan Morse’s statement -- “Brill's "competitive rate" is, in fact, 400RMB/1,000 Chinese characters.” -- is inaccurate and misleading. Journal of Chinese Humanities is a collaboration between Brill and the Editorial Office of Wen Shi Zhe (《文史哲》), Shandong University. In this collaboration, it is NOT Brill’s responsibility to handle the translation. Brill does NOT provide any rate for the translation work needed for the journal. For any questions or enquiries about the translation for the journal, please kindly contact the Editorial Office of Wen Shi Zhe at Shandong University.
Brill does sometimes handle the translation for translation projects (mostly book projects). The rate varies from project to project, depending on the difficult level of the content to be translated, the translation subsidy that particular project received, the credentials and experience of the translator, and the quote provided by the translator. There is no fixed translation rate at Brill.
