Allow me to alert you to the first issue of the new peer-reviewed on-line journal Transcultural Studies, which carries an extensive study by Catherine Yeh on the role of the Shenbaoguan in Shanghai in resetting the status of the Chinese novel well before the beginning of the XXth century. http://journals.ub.uni-heidelberg.de/index.php/transcultural/index. The articles come with an abstract and a full version of the text in downloadable pdf and HTML formats.
