Visiting Instructor or Visiting Assistant Professor of Chinese Studies #F0536W
The Department of Modern Languages & Literatures at the College of William & Mary invites applications for a one-year, non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor position in Chinese Studies beginning August 10, 2015. Primary responsibility will be instruction of content/culture courses, both lower and upper division, including Modern Chinese Literature, cinema, and cultural studies. The candidate will also offer a freshman seminar in a topic of his or her choice. Teaching expectations is three courses per semester (two preparations). The candidate may be asked to direct the study abroad program in Beijing in summer 2016.
Required: A M.A. in Chinese literature, culture or other related field. The candidate should have demonstrable experience in teaching content courses at the college level, and must possess native or near-native fluency in both Chinese and English.
Preferred: A Ph.D. or ABD status in Chinese literature, culture or other related field is preferred at time of appointment August 10, 2015.
Application materials, including a cover letter, a CV, a sample syllabi for a Chinese Cinema course and a Twentieth Century Chinese Literature course, and three letters of recommendation should be submitted electronically via the W&M Human Resources website http://jobs.wm.edu/postings/20582. After submission of the application those individuals will be contacted by us via email to submit a letter of recommendation.
For full consideration submit all materials by the review date, May 20, 2015. Applications received after the review date will be considered only if needed.
All three letters of recommendation must be received by the review date for the application to be considered complete. Please ensure the email addresses are accurate or your referee will not receive the email.
