The Department of East Asian Studies invites applications for an open-rank position in late imperial (Ming-Qing) literature and culture, effective July 1, 2015. Ph.D. required at the time of appointment. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing a curriculum in the study of Classical Chinese and to teach content courses in Ming and Qing literature and culture.  Demonstrated excellence or, at the junior level, evidence of potential excellence in scholarship and teaching is expected.  In addition we seek applicants who will contribute to the broader intellectual life of the department and university.  Native or near-native fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English is required.
Interested applicants should submit their dossiers to the search committee through Interfolio at:  http://www.interfolio.com. The dossiers should include a letter of application, a curriculum vitae, and no more than two representative writing samples/scholarly publications (abstracts only in the case of books). In addition, those applying at the rank of assistant professor should have three letters of recommendation sent; senior applicants should submit the names of three references with contact information.  Recommenders will be contacted by the search committee.
