Red Sorghum tv drama

Shandong’s television station has begun airing the new drama based on Mo Yan’s book Red Sorghum. It first aired on Monday, October 27, but can also be watched online (at least in mainland China). Here is the link:

Some of the actors include 41 year-old Zhou Xun who plays the 19 year-old Dai Jiulian (Grandma), and Zhu Yawen, who plays Yu Zhao’ao (Grandpa). The director, Zheng Xiaolong, received both the Flying Goddess Award in 2009 and the Shanghai TV Festival Magnolia Award in 2008 for the first episode of the drama, Golden Marriage. Red Sorghum‘s screenplay was written by Zhao Dongling.
