The University of San Francisco Center for the Pacific Rim
Visiting Scholars Program

The University of San Francisco’s Center for the Pacific Rim is pleased to
announce the call for applications for its visiting scholar program.  This
new program is designed to welcome domestic and international scholars to
be in residence at the Center for 3-6 months during which time scholars
will pursue independent research and interact with USF's faculty,
students, and staff during the 2014-15 academic year. Faculty on
sabbatical are particularly encouraged to apply.

In this first year of the program, the Center is pleased to offer a small
number of  travel grants to assist chosen scholars with their travel and
lodging expenses (reimbursable per USF travel and research policies).   To
be considered for a travel grant, applications must be received by April
1, 2014.

University of San Francisco welcomes applications from active academic
researchers and university faculty members in the humanities and social
sciences whose proposed research meets the following criteria:

•	Research is relevant to the study of the Asia Pacific (especially
Greater China, Japan, Korea, India, and the Philippines)
•	Preference will be given to applicants whose research is transnational,
border-crossing, or comparative in nature
•	Research is in one of the following fields:  history, literature,
philosophy, religious studies, art history, political science, sociology,
and anthropology
