Middlebury Summer 2015 Position in Environmental Humanities (Global Perspective)
The Middlebury School of the Environment is pleased to announce an open faculty position in the field of environmental humanities. The position is available during the summer 2015 session (June 17 to July 31) on Middlebury College campus in Vermont. Primary teaching responsibilities are (a) team-teaching with a natural scientist a course that focuses on an interdisciplinary environmental understanding of “place,” and (b) an elective of your choosing on some aspect of the environmental humanities with an explicitly global perspective. Preference will be given to applicants whose curricular interests include issues related to environmental justice, ethics, or cross-cultural perspectives. We are looking for a faculty member with the following characteristics: demonstrated teaching excellence in some aspects of the environmental humanities; an interest in interdisciplinary and collaborative teaching about the environment; and enthusiasm for working with students in a full-immersion program. In addition to the salary, lodging and a complete meal plan will be provided. The Middlebury School of the Environment is a 6-week summer program for undergraduates that couples a rigorous, interdisciplinary curriculum on the study of the environment with training in the leadership skills necessary to effect positive environmental change. This is a unique opportunity to help foster a community of learners through actively engaging in curricular and co-curricular activities with students while working with other faculty to create an integrated, imaginative curriculum.
