With regard to Yomi Braester's request for information on neibu
translations  . . .

I just read something about translation literature in China, yesterday, in
_Consuming Literature: Best Sellers and the Commercialization of Literary
Production in Contemporary China_ by Shuyu Kong. She was mainly discussing
translation literature in the 1980s and 1990s, but she also briefly talked
about the history of it in the first three decades of PRC. She mentioned a
list of the titles of the translated works being circulated within a
selected circle (neibu faxing). I think you can find more information from
that book or directly from her.
