Upcoming Keep Taiwan Free Rally in New York City
Ready to Inspire Others to Ignite Change

Manhattan, NY (September 2, 2013) – A group of passionate young
professionals, funded by the Taiwanese American Council of Greater New
York (TAC-GNY) has announced a series of exciting events starting from
Friday, September 6, and ending on Saturday, September 14 with the hopes
of inspiring and informing the public about Taiwan.

Throughout the week, there will be various events for all ages, including
a photo shoot, social mixers, an outdoor run and even a live concert. The
biggest and final event of the week will be the Keep Taiwan Free March and
Rally, to be held on Saturday, September 14th. Participants are encouraged
to meet at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza located on 47th Street between 1st-2nd
Avenue at 12:30 pm to march together to Times Square on 7th Avenue and
41st-42nd Street, where the rally will take place until 4:00 PM EST.

The Keep Taiwan Free March and Rally, a unique event that will not only be
fun but also informative, will engage everyone to raise and create
awareness about Taiwan’s position in the global community. Everyone is
cordially invited to attend. Enticing performances and fun chants will
take place throughout the event. Hundreds of supporters are expected to
participate in order to speak out to the international community for the
people of Taiwan.

Taiwan, a country with a population of 23 million people, values freedom,
democracy and human rights. Throughout Taiwan’s history and up to recent
day, there have been several events that have occurred in Taiwan that are
making the Taiwanese, both in Taiwan and abroad, concerned. The Keep
Taiwan Free movement was created several years ago with the hopes of
promoting awareness, and preventing the regression of democracy and human
rights in Taiwan. The Taiwanese American Council and the Formosan
Association of Foreign Affairs would like to use the Keep Taiwan Free
March and Rally as a day to encourage people to understand more about
Taiwan’s current situation.

The Taiwanese American Council of Greater New York (TAC-NY) is a
coordinated committee of all the Taiwanese organizations in Greater New
York. TAC-NY sponsors a variety of events including, but not limited to,
CATUN, Passport to Taiwan and UN for Taiwan.

The Formosan Association for Public Affairs (FAPA) is a 501 (c) (3)
non-profit organization that: promotes international support for the right
of the people of Taiwan to establish an independent and democratic country
and to join the international community; Promotes relations and
cooperation between Taiwan and the U.S.; protects the right of
self-determination for people of Taiwan; promotes peace and security for
Taiwan and advances the rights and interests of Taiwanese communities
throughout the world.
