ABOUT PING PONG PRODUCTIONS:
Ping Pong Productions (PPP) <http://www.pingpongarts.org/> is a production
company whose mission is to bring China and the world together through the
performing arts. As artistic ambassadors, PPP develops cultural exchange
projects and facilitates creative collaborations between Chinese and
international artists, scholars, and audiences. With teams based in
Beijing and the United States, PPP provides the following services to
further its cultural diplomacy mission:

* PRODUCING performances, festivals, conferences, and creative gatherings.
PPP works with artists at all stages of their careers to produce new
works, develop brand identity, and introduce them to new markets in China
or abroad.

* CONSULTING for organizations, governments, and individuals to ensure
successful projects and tours bringing international artists to China,
sending Chinese artists abroad, and generating cultural exchange projects.
As leading experts in the Chinese performing arts market and in cultural
exchange, PPP team members frequently deliver keynote speeches and
participate in professional panels around the globe.

* MANAGEMENT AND PLANNING for all aspects of project development and
execution, including generating creative programs, sourcing content and
collaborative partners, handling tour logistics, providing contract
negotiation and budget oversight, developing fundraising and marketing
plans, etc.

MISSION of the DIRECTOR OF PROGRAM OPERATIONS:
The new Director of Program Operations will:

* manage a team of project coordinators and tour managers to oversee
between 20 to 40 projects annually. Project coordinators and tour managers
will report to the Director of Program Operations.
* work with the President, Board of Directors, and Administrative Manager
on annual program development and planning, including advising about
feasibility of projects and ensuring projects further PPP mission.

The Director of Program Operations is a member of the core leadership
team. The mission of this position is to supervise the financial,
personnel, and day-to-day operational affairs of each individual project
and the company’s program selection planning as a whole, in order to
ensure that the programs/projects stay on schedule and within budget and
further PPP’s mission of cultural diplomacy and bringing China and the
World Together through the Performing Arts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Work with President to plan monthly and annual schedules of programs and
projects, including developing project budgets and timelines.
* Delegate project implementation tasks to team of project coordinators
and oversee coordinators to ensure work plans are executed according to
the plans and budgets developed.
* Communicate via email, phone, skype, and in-person with project partners
and clients to discuss and negotiate project details that the coordinators
then execute. Provide clear and detailed instructions, support, and
mentorship to project coordinators to ensure smooth and successful
execution of projects.
* Participate in weekly in-person and Skype meetings with President and
other PPP leadership to provide status reports and to plan next steps.
* Lead post-project evaluation discussions with project coordinators after
each project to review what worked well and what work procedures /
practices need to be improved. Set up concrete action steps to implement
improved work procedures for unfinished and future projects. Oversee
implementation of new practices. Report results of evaluations to
President and Board of Directors in written form as well as
in-person/Skype meetings.
* Support ongoing relationship building with potential clients, partners,
and funders by representing Ping Pong Productions at national and
international conferences, meetings, festivals, etc. as needed. Cultivate
and manage these relationships through emails, phone calls, and in-person
meetings as needed.
* When necessary, travel within China and internationally to manage
projects and meet with partners and possible clients.

QUALIFICATIONS and COMPETENCIES

* Able to manage conflicts, possess good communication skills and be a
good listener. Must have the skills of decision making, problem solving,
and should be a great team leader.
* At least five years professional experience, with more than two years in
any single institution and at least two years management experience.
* Highly organized, able to balance long-range planning with day-to-day
details. Must be able to multitask and keep focused on multiple ongoing
projects each in different stages.
* Superb written and verbal communication skills in both English and
Mandarin.
* Confident, outgoing personality with sound professional judgment for
diverse multicultural situations.
* Strong leadership skills, ability to motivate team members. Promote open
communication, delegate power, and coach the team.
* Strong empathy, understand people and sensitivity to power dynamics in
different cultural situations.
* Knowledge of the Chinese performing arts industry not required.
Priorities for this position are on management, leadership, and
organizational skills; arts experience will be gained on the job.

Salary for this position depends on prior experience and language ability.
