Job Announcement:

The Uyghur Human Rights Project Chinese Language Outreach Coordinator
(Part Time)

The Uyghur Human Rights Project, a Washington, DC-based human rights
organization that promotes human rights and democracy for the Uyghur
people, is seeking an experienced, well-organized self-starter to fill its
Chinese Language Outreach Coordinator position.  This position will be
part time, working approximately 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities of the Chinese Language Outreach Coordinator include:

-       Translate UHRP website frame and static pages (About Us, Donate)
into Mandarin in order to launch a Mandarin mirror site
-       Translate all UHRP press releases into Mandarin, as well as
selected blogs and opinion pieces
-       Write original Mandarin-language blogs
-       Conduct outreach with Chinese-speaking democracy community,
attending meetings, inviting blog submissions, and speaking publicly about
UHRP¹s research
-       Aggregate daily Chinese-language news sources regarding Uyghurs
-       Maintain a Chinese-language UHRP social media presence

Qualifications:

-       Fluency in spoken and written Mandarin Chinese as well as spoken
and written English. Uyghur language (or any Turkic language) skills are a
plus;
-       BA degree required in Translation, International Affairs, Chinese
Studies, Central Asian Studies, Human Rights Studies or similar field ;
-       1-2 years of English to Chinese Translation experience. NGO and
Human rights advocacy experience also preferred;
-       Excellent written and verbal communications;
-       Strong organizational skills and ability to work under pressure;
-       Proficiency in Macintosh systems and Microsoft Office software
applications.
